Making it's Class deut on the Central Wales Line, 55022
Making it's Class deut on the Central Wales Line, 55022 "Royal Scots Grey" roars past Heyope on the climb to Llangynllo summit with Pathfinder Tour's Heart of Wales Explorer (08.00 Cardiff - Llandrindod Wells) on 29th March 2008. The estimated speed was in the region of 40 mph at this point - an impressive performance and the heaviest train I have observed on this line hauled by a single loco.

On 19th July 2008 the Central Wales weather was on fine form (full dull) for 55022's second visit. This time it was rostered for the Mid Wales Borderer from Blackpool to Cardiff, out via the Central Wales Line and back via Hereford. After a short stopover at Llandrindod Wells, the train is pictured leaving Suagr Loaf tunnel en route to Cardiff.
